About Sea-K-Designs

After a life of loving water sports I recognize that sailboats connect people very closely with their natural environment. Sailing teaches us what the wind and waves are like, and their immense power.

We learn how to work with these natural forces so our boat performs at its best. The sailboat’s characteristics become apparent as we respond to them. We experience the joy of being part of nature. It is a wonderful way of life!

Racing sharpens our awareness of our natural environment immensely. In competition we work with the fine details about our boats, how to set up and trim them for maximum speed, and how to handle them in different weather and wave conditions. We learn boat-to-boat tactics, and boat to course strategies.

For young people and adults alike, the Chickadee and Sonatina provide access to new discoveries about our environment and about ourselves. We learn how to combine traditional and modern technology to create a sailboat of great beauty and excellent performance characteristics. They are rewarding for beginners, as they are reasonably easy to handle. Yet they are exciting for experts because they are so responsive and exciting to sail, especially in a breeze.
