People without special skills or experience can build them at home, club, or school. They perform excellently in all conditions as they are light in weight, stable in form, and have generous sail area. This combination makes our designs suited to learners - and very satisfying for experts. The 14˝ ft Sonatina is easy to sail, transport and rig, and gives a wonderful experience of speedy but stable performance in all conditions, especially off the wind in a breeze. Versatility is achieved by four variations of rig: the standard two sail rig for double-handing; single handing with FlexRig^TM; with a spinnaker; and with a trapeze, for more experienced sailors. The 12 ft Chickadee is excellent for junior and smaller adults, and is a compact enough for car topping. She is sailed by two youngsters or single-handed when experienced enough. She is the perfect platform for learning the basics and the nuances of sailing, and gives an exciting sailboard-like ride in a blow.

Chris Koper has passed away On the 8th November 2006 Chris Koper the master sailor, yacht designer and photographer extraordinaire, passed away in Ontario Canada. For the last two years, Chris had suffered with ALS (a form of motor neuron disease) which, since the middle of 2005 had advanced rapidly. More... The Sonatinas showed a clean pair of heels to the 420. All skippers and crew had a great time. The designs excelled in the light air conditions.
